This packaged domestic booster pump system was installed at a 9 story apartment
building. The pump system includes "Variable Frequency Drives" which
allow the pumps to run at varying speeds to accommodate the usage at any given
time. The use of Variable Frequency Drives results in an energy savings bonus to
the building owners. This particular system had to be custom built to facilitate
an "on-site" breakdown in order to get the unit into the basement.

This photo shows a Duplex Variable Frequency Drive System just
prior to installation at a 22 story high rise in downtown
Chicago, IL. The system was installed to replace existing
booster pumps. The supply piping to the new pump had to be
increased from 3" to 4".
The owners required this to be done without "draining the
building". We installed a temporary "mechanical line stop" on
the 6" main in the basement and replaced a "tee" fitting in two
(2) hours during which the height of the building provided
sufficient residual pressure to keep the building services
(washrooms) in operation.
